SAQG

The South African Quilter’s Guild was founded in 1989 and is the governing body of quilt making in South Africa. It is a non-profit quilt-making association with 11 affiliated Regional Guilds.

Mission Statement:
To foster an environment where all South Africans can reach their full potential in quilt-making and textile related Art, nationally and internationally.

Objectives:

  • To promote and maintain a history of quilt- making and textile related Art in South Africa.
  • To organize a SA Travelling Exhibition.
  • To conduct a Quilt Judge Certificate Programme and maintain a register of qualified judges.
  • To maintain a register of accredited South African quilt teachers.
  • To compile and maintain membership list of all South African quilters.
  • To maintain a website.
  • To ensure that Rules, Regulations and Categories for National Quilt Festivals and Competitions, are complied with.
